Mongolian beef
Ingredients
beef fillet – 500 gr;
piece of ginger – 5 cm;
soy sauce – 100 ml;
garlic – 3 or 4 cloves;
sugar – 60 g;
cornstarch for breading meat – 50 gr;
cornstarch for sauce – 1 tbsp;
water – 100 ml.
The flavor of the dish undoubtedly depends on the initial quality of products, especially meat.
Directions
- Prepare the ingredients.
- Beef should be cut into thin slices, as for cooking beef stroganoff.
- Sprinkle the meat liberally with starch and mix well with your hands so that the breading spreads evenly.
- Fry the beef pieces in batches in a frying pan over high heat. Put the cooked meat in a separate dish. In this way, the meat is quickly cooked. You should not fry it for longer than 1 minute.
- Put the pressed garlic and finely chopped ginger in the pan where the beef was cooking. Fry them over medium heat for 15 seconds.
- Pour the soy sauce and water into the pan. Add sugar and starch diluted in 1 tbsp of water. Stir the sauce until the sugar is dissolved.
- Put the previously prepared meat into the sauce and mix gently. Cover with a lid and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mongolian-style beef looks very spectacular – thin and juicy pieces of meat in a rich glossy sauce. At first glance it may seem that there is a lot of sugar in the sauce. But in fact the flavor is very harmonious and there is not even a hint of excessive sweetness.
- For a side dish, rice, fried rice noodles or grilled vegetables are great options. Help yourself to a dish!
